1. How does PlusSpec help designers improve the sustainability aspects of their designs?
PlusSpec empowers Architects, Builders and Designers to improve sustainability with construction efficiency, passive design strategies and eco-friendly building products.
Through intelligent building information modelling (BIM) you can order building materials accurately, which reduce overestimating of product and in-turn minimises our waste throughout the construction project.
Sun and shadow diagrams can be achieved using PlusSpec in SketchUp to take advantage of building positioning, overshadowing issues, the sun’s energy and natural light. This is an important factor when considering passive design strategies.
We provide access to eco-friendly building products from special paints, zero carbon footprint cladding, and thermal glazed window systems all the way through to lightweight insulated floor panels.
2. Tell us about RubySketch’s overall environmental stance as a company.
Being apart of an industry that generate more waste than any other, we feel obliged to take an active stance on the environmental issues of construction. PlusSpec (by RubySketch) enables construction and design professionals to manage their construction waste at the planning stage by delivering accurate bill of quantities.
We challenge the traditional methodologies of design, estimating and waste management by continually to develop and create innovative software.
It is one thing to create a brilliant product which can help minimise the waste our industry creates, but it is another to ‘walk the walk’. We love to see eco-friendly products integrated into PlusSpec, and we even utilise PlusSpec’s capabilities with the development of some of the office spaces here at RubySketch.
