We recently asked Helen Edwards from Recycled Interiors two questions.
How can green interiors drive social change within industry and community?
Our homes are the place where we spend much of our time, and where we can make the most difference to the planet and our own health, through conscious consumer choices. By creating green interiors, we bring an awareness to industry and community that there are alternative choices that are just as beautiful (if not more), durable and affordable. On top of that by bringing awareness to people that the choices they make when it comes to their interiors are vital to their health and wellbeing, we can encourage social change - considering things like paint, flooring and textiles - where they may have never considered these and the impact on our health and the planet. There is more change happening when it comes to green building, but less recognition of the importance of our interiors. This is where we can make a big impact.
What is your favourite one liner that encourages people to implement deeper levels of sustainability into their lives?
Choose the one thing to start with, that you can take action on and that will make the biggest difference to your life. Then build on that. It's the small steps that count.
